The Broadfield Pub Review
My favourite thing to get when I come to The Broadfield is a pie. Overall, I would say I am generally not a huge pie lover, I don’t dislike them but unless they are made by my mother I could take them or leave them. However it is my own personal ritual that I absolutely have to have a pie when I come here (except for at Christmas) Usually I opt for some variation of the beef pie but this most recent visit of mine I decided to try the chicken and mediterranean veg pie. The special Sunday lunch menu is constantly rotating and usually includes 5-6 different pies including vegan and vegetarian options that are equally as tasty if you are someone who chooses not to eat meat. I have tried a couple of the vegan options in the past and as someone who isn’t vegan but isn’t against eating more plant based, they were incredibly tasty, something I think a lot of people aren’t willing to accept when it comes to veganism.
My pie was gorgeous. The pastry they use on their pies is my absolute favourite. It is just so flavourful and moreish. The filling was also delicious, the chicken came in a tomato based sauce, and whilst I couldn't identify all the vegetables included, there was definitely some courgette, a vegetable I think is very underrated and one of my most loved. All pies come with mushy peas and the most wonderful triple cooked chips you’ll have ever had.
Love this pub!
